November Loves

There have been lots of loves this month - I've done a lot of shopping lately so I've been trying out a bunch of new products and lots of them have been hits! Starting off with beauty, you might remember I review of the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm earlier this month and I've been using it non stop as my cleanser throughout November. I'll link that post here in case you want to read it. It has been a total skincare saviour with the colder weather, it's nourishing, soothing and removes all my makeup off really quickly and easily.

The Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Quad has made a reappearance in my winter beauty bag - it's just such a perfect shadow combination for this time of year. There's a gorgeous shimmery garnet and glittery gold which are really getting me in the mood for December! Lips wise: mine have been very dry lately so I've been reaching for my Chanel Hydra Beauty Lip Balm. It's a really thick and moisturizing balm which almost feels like a mask so I keep it on my bedside table and apply it before going to sleep. By the time I wake up, my lips are super smooth, and ready for my two new Rosie for Autograph Lipsticks in Nude Mink and Rose Silk. The formula of these is just incredible, they're buttery soft to apply but they last ages without smudging, especially with a lipliner. These two colours are gorgeous so I'm really glad I picked them up.

On my nails, I've been loving a splash of red with the L'oreal Colour Riche Nail Varnish in Rubis Folies. It's a gorgeous, rich scarlet which screams festivity so I know it's a colour that will carry me through next month too.

I have a TV favourite this month - I've been watching Fresh Meat and I'm really enjoying it. I think it's a bit of a love or hate show and the humour is very British, but if you love Jack Whitehall it's definitely worth watching. I've also been re-watching Parks and Recreation for some feel good TV, and it never lets me down when I want something light to pick up my mood.

What have been your favourites this month?

My Winter Evening Routine

It's definitely that time of year where I love to take my evenings and spend them indoors, pampering myself and snuggling up in bed. I guess I could have called this post a cosy night in - it certainly involves a lot of cushions and blankets! Here are five things that I like to do on an evening indoors when it's cold:

Bubble Bath.
I recently went on a trip to Lush and I posted everything I picked up in a haul last week which I'll link here. Needless to say, their Christmas range is incredible if you're looking for good bubble bath. I'm a huge fan of the Santa Claus bath bomb which makes the bathwater turn all the colours of Christmas, so I'd highly recommend that one.

I get so excited every week when it's time to paint my nails a new colour, especially during fall - is that sad? I don't know, but it's such a great way to relax! I like to do mine after I've showered or had a pamper session in the bubble bath because then I can sit down comfortably with a good show on Netflix and paint away.

I made a vow that I would pick up reading outside of my degree again and I've been trying my best to stick to it! One of the best ways to enjoy a cosy night indoors is to snuggle up in bed with a good book. If you're looking for a new page turner - I've recently been reading Trace This Scar by Jessikah Hope Stenson and I highly recommend it. It's the perfect read for anyone who is into murder mystery based thrillers - and it's very difficult to put down once you've started!

Hot Chocolate.
A warm drink is so relaxing and the perfect way add something sweet and edible to the evening - especially if you've been smelling sweets for an hour in a LUSH filled bubble bath! My favourite is definitely Dark & Smoky Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate - it's decadent, super indulgent and seriously delicious with lots of mini marshmallows on a cosy night in. I'll have the recipe going up soon so you can try it too.

Having a cosy bed space is possibly the most important part of a relaxing evening for me. I love to dress my bed up in soft linens and pile up lots of cushions to snuggle into. I've seen beautiful festive bed ranges everywhere recently - from huge displays at M&S and Asda, to gorgeous (yet incredibly affordable) pieces at Dunelm and Yorkshire Linens*. Cushions are one of my favourite things to buy when it comes to home decor, so I can't wait to switch up my bed with some festive ones for the season!

What are your favourite ways to enjoy a cosy night in?

My End of Year Goals

With December fast approaching (seriously, the end of 2016 already??), I thought it was time to sit down and think about what I've achieved this year, along with what I want to achieve before 2017 is upon us... so here's my list:

1. Write lots of festive themed content for my blog. I've already scheduled my gift guides for this year, and there are four of them. It's taken a while to put them together but I can't wait for them to go live along with all the other content I have planned!

2. Get back into meal planning. I've kind of fallen off the bandwagon when it comes to meal planning and trying to make healthy choices - I think it has something to do with the end of the year approaching. However, this is something I really want to change, so I'm definitely going to make the most of December and try.

3. Fall in love with a new TV show. This is a fun goal, I'll admit. I love the feeling of finding a new TV show that I instantly love and want to sit and binge watch all evening. It's been a while since I've done that and I think the holidays are the perfect time for it!

4. To work on my university portfolio. I have a massive portfolio of work to hand in come January so I know I'm spending lots of December working on that. I also have a very important exam coming up in January too so I need to sort out some kind of revision timetable as well so I can balance everything properly.

5. Make the most of the Black Friday sales. There are definitely a few things I want to grab, some new workout gear being one of them. I feel like if I invest in some nice gym clothes, I'll be more inclined to use them so it's worth a shot. I'm also on the hunt for a warm winter coat that goes with everything, so I'll be scouring the sales for that too.

6. Stay focused on the positive. This year has been a rocky one for me with ups and downs and highs and lows of all sorts. I really want to take the final month of the year to reflect and appreciate everything that I have in my life. I'm a firm believer that gratitude is really important, so I want to practice it as much as possible.

What are your goals to achieve before 2017?

Lush Christmas Picks

Ok, so I realize that I have posted several hauls up in the past week but I think it's all the festivity that's getting to me! All the Christmas displays are up and so many brands have launched their new festive ranges - so of course, I'm so desperate to try everything. I popped into my local LUSH last week and had a look at their treats for Christmas. I wanted to get one of all they had on their shelves but I controlled myself...sort of. Here's what I picked up:

Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar
This is the cutest little wand I think I've ever seen. It's bright pink and covered in silver glitter, super pretty to look at and it actually makes your bathwater magical. Lots of bubbles - and everything smells like candyfloss!

Snow Fairy Shower Gel
This is the infamous bubblegum pear-drop scent that LUSH bring out every Christmas. It leaves a gorgeous lustre on your skin - I'm all about that with these products as you'll soon see! This is also hot pink in the bottle which makes it extra fun to use.

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner
I've never really used a body conditioner before but the idea of this product is to use in place of a moisturizer straight after shower gel - and then you wash it off. It leaves your skin incredibly soft and moisturized, and you'll smell like sweets afterwards!

Father Christmas Bath Bomb
This is a colourful one - it fizzes red and white and pink and green... all the colours of Christmas in a bathtub. It smells just like the Snow Fairy duo, very sweet and sugary, so if you have a sweet-tooth this is definitely a must have.

Fairy Dust Dusting Powder
I was really excited about this product as soon as I sampled a little on my arm. It's literally sugar for your skin and it leaves the most iridescent pink shimmery goodness all over. I know I'll be covering myself head to toe as soon as December draws nearer!

Have you tried anything from the LUSH Christmas range?

Festive False Lash Favourites

I know it's still November but I'm loving the festivity that's spreading across the blogs I've been reading lately so I'm desperate to join in all the fun! I've planned a lot of new posts for the upcoming month, from the classic gift guides to lovely warm recipes and extra sparkly beauty posts... I'm so excited for December, can you tell?! But because it's still technically November, I thought I'd start it off gently with a subject that I'm often asked about - especially around the festive period, and it's none other than my favourite false lashes. There's something oh-so glamourous about the extra oomph a pair of good lashes can give and if you're on the hunt for some affordable ones, definitely take a look at They have hundreds of styles to choose from, they offer free 1st class delivery to addresses in the UK - and in today's post, I'm sharing a couple of my personal favourites for the festive season.

The lash style you opt for can completely transform your whole look. I love adding lots of volume as well as length so when I first tried the Eylure 117 Texture Lashes*, it was love at first application. The hairs are layered in criss-cross angles which flutters up your lashline without looking messy or clumpy - so it adds the perfect amount of glamour to a statement eye without being overbearing... perfect if you're opting for a smokey eye throughout the festive period.

However, if you're one who prefers statement lips this time of year, I find that a simple eye look with minimal colour can look complement them really well. For this, the Eylure 020 Natural Lashes* work perfectly - they add lots of length and definition to a basic neutral eye. When paired with a little black liner and brightly coloured lips, you get such a great makeup look that oozes elegance and class, which is perfect for the party season!

Also, to make these lashes even more affordable, you can get 10% off your order at - just enter LASH10 before you checkout!

My First Ever Colourpop Haul

Colourpop has been all over the beauty blogging world for the past couple of years and for good reason - they offer such affordable makeup without compromising the quality. I recently picked out a few different bits and pieces that I wanted to try - and now that they're delivered, I thought it would be best to dedicate a post with lots of swatches and initial thoughts for you all. Let me start with the fact that I'm really impressed. Everything about the company is incredibly fun - from its colourful and uplifting branding, to the pigmentation and variety of choices, and even the fact that it's cruelty free becomes an added bonus. Of course, with every product there's a different formula which means a different opinion on each piece but as a whole, I will definitely  be ordering again because I'm totally in love.

Bumble (Ultra Matte Lip) - a deep, dusty terracotta with a comfortable matte finish. I do already own one other ultra matte lip in the shade Bad Habit which is less comfortable, so I think the formula varies from shade to shade.

Echo Park (Ultra Satin Lip) - a warm, peach toned nude which has a slight sheen when dried. Reminds me a lot of MAC's Velvet Teddy but in a liquid version.

Frick N' Frack (Ultra Satin Lip) - another beautiful rosy terracotta shade but this one is a lot deeper than Bumble. It also doesn't dry completely matte (as the formula would suggest).

Lumiere (Lippie Stix) - one of the most unusual shades I've ever tried. It's a lilac pink mauve shade that is actually incredibly wearable. The formula is easy to apply too and is a matte finish.

Brink (Lippie Stix) - my favourite lip product from this entire haul. This is my perfect, everyday dusty taupe shade. Very much the 90s brown toned nude that I love so much.

Clique (Lippie Stix) - the brightest, most electric orange red EVER. Seriously, your lips will pop! A beautiful soft, matte finish as well but this one is definitely not for the faint hearted.

Aquarius (Lippie Pencil) - a creamy pink toned nude. Again, incredibly wearable (like most of the ones I've mentioned!). This one did seem to wear off quite quick but I didn't wear it with a lipliner.

Dopey (Lippie Pencil) - this is the perfect lipliner for any nude lip look. I think I need to pick up this shade in the liquid lipstick formula too because it's such a gorgeous brown mauve.

Moving onto eyes: Colourpop have an amazing selection of gel liners and super shock shadows so I just had to pick a few. They're definitely some of the best in terms of pigmentation in my whole collection - not to mention that the packaging is just so adorable!

Zulu (Creme Gel Liner) - a beautiful sea green which will make brown eyes pop. Such a gorgeous way to add a hint of colour to your lash line, super creamy and pigmented.

Get Paid (Creme Gel Liner) - a soft, metallic gold. This one is great for inner corners or the lower lash line to add some sparkle. Lots of pigmentation in this shade too.

Weenie (Super Shock Shadow) - if you love rose gold, you need this shade in your life! These shadows are ridiculously soft and blendable, easy to work with and they pack a lot of pigment into such a cute pot.

Game Face (Super Shock Shadow) - a bright, sparkling copper with an intense metallic, almost glitter finish. This one is really pretty if you like adding warm tones to your eyelid crease.

Amaze (Super Shock Shadow) - sort of like Weenie but more glittery. It's a beautiful rose gold which wears beautifully throughout the day.

Too Shy (Super Shock Shadow) - the most adventurous shade - I had to try at least one of the colourful ones! This one is a beautiful neon cobalt blue. I thought it would be perfect for adding a pop of colour to my lash line.

KathleenLights (Super Shock Shadow) - a pearlized golden shadow, slightly softer than the rest. Really wearable as an everyday lid shade for a little sparkle, with lots of mascara.

Four Ways To Promote Your Blog Offline

After blogging for a whole year now, I've been trying to find new ways of promoting my blog and all the content on it. Of course, social media is a big help, and I'm slowly getting to grips with apps that I've never really known how to use. But all of this recently got me thinking of other ways I could spread the word about Her Little Loves. The old-fashioned ways if you will, the ways that people used before social media was around! They can still be just as effective and there are some beautiful websites that can help you design and create customized promotions for your blog. In today's post, I'm going to share four things I've done recently to help promote my blog:

1. Business cards.
These have been popular for years and they're still just as popular now. I designed a card online and got a couple of hundred printed. I keep a little business card holder in my bag everywhere I go in case the opportunity to hand them out arises. I designed my cards on Vistaprint - they are such high quality and the customer service is excellent.

2. Your phone case.
I've talked about customizing your phone case before, but getting a phone case designed specifically about your blog is a great way to inadvertently promote it. Think of the number of times your phone is out and the number of people that see the case - if you have a nice logo and your website URL, it does spread the word! CaseApp* are a great place to start if you're looking for excellent quality cases at affordable prices - and I have a discount code for you too: LITTLELOVESCASE20 will get you 20% off at the checkout.

3. Stickers.
This might seem like an odd one but I was recently able to try StickerApp* and get some customized stickers made. They have an amazing selection of their own designs too, but this website is perfect for designing some stickers that coincide with your logo/brand. I like to use mine whilst packaging items that I've sold on eBay - it adds that extra special touch, whilst also promoting your blog.

4. Email Signatures.
I guess, strictly speaking, this isn't offline. But it's definitely a great way to promote your content. If you send a lot of emails, adding a little signature with a link to your blog will help drive traffic as well, so it's always worth doing.

How do you like to promote your blog?

A North American Beauty Haul

North American Beauty Haul

I had big plans for beauty shopping with my trip to Canada last week but everything got so busy that I wasn't able to get nearly as much as I wanted. Half of the list I had prepped was out of stock and I didn't have time to run from store to store to check the availability of things which was such a shame (I was gone for only a week!). However, I did pick up a small handful of goodies which I thought I'd put together in this post and share with you all:

I was instantly drawn to the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist - it's been on every beauty blogger hit list of favourites from 2016 so of course I had to try it! The bottle is gorgeous, all fancy and weighty, makes the experience of a facial spray so much more luxurious - and I'll definitely update you further after I've had a chance to try it out a bit more. I also managed to grab the Anastasia Ultimate Glow Kit and I was over the moon. It's incredibly coveted, and once you see it in real life, you'll have no questions as to why that is. It's the palette of highlighting dreams, especially if you're into golds and icy whites. There are six large pans of ultimate glowing in this kit and I can't wait to gear up the glow over the festive season!

Anastasia Ultimate Glow Kit

I'd heard a lot about the Living Proof Full Volume Blast Hairspray so  I grabbed a mini travel size and I'm already in love. Also, how adorable is this mini NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer?! So cute. They're both perfect to carry around in my bag for touch ups and top ups, so I'm really glad I got my hands on them.

Onto a couple of drugstore finds - elf is a brand which is much more accessible in North America so I was keen to give a few items a try. When I got to the stand however, there wasn't much there! I did manage to grab the last Studio Blending Brush (and I've heard a lot about this particular one being very good). I was also intrigued by the Sally Hansen Gel Nail Duo, so I picked one set up and decided to give it a whirl. It looks really promising - I've had it on for a couple of days and no chips so far, but I'll keep you updated. The kit comes with a colour and a top coat - I chose the shade Birthday Suit, a beautiful pale pink nude.

Here's to the week ahead!

My Winter Skincare Staple

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

I've been on the hunt for the perfect cleansing balm for a while and the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm has been cropping up on beauty blogs everywhere so I finally purchased it and gave it a go. Of course, there have been lots of reviews on this product but I thought I'd share my own as well because it's become such a staple in my skincare routine (and I've only been using it about two weeks)!

The consistency makes this cleanser perfect as a winter skincare staple. A soft, emollient balm which melts at the touch into a lightweight oil. Don't be scared of oil though (even if you have acne prone skin like me), it actually is incredibly soothing and nourishing for your face whilst also being very good at removing every single trace of makeup, including any products containing SPF. The oil itself isn't at all greasy so I believe oilier skin types will also enjoy using this. It's incredibly easy to use - all you have to do is scoop a little of the balm out of the jar, rub it with your fingertips until it becomes liquid and then apply it onto dry skin in circular motions. It's also 100% fragrance free, it just smells fresh and clean - exactly what I like for a facial cleanser.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

It takes off even the most waterproof makeup and its gentle enough to use on the eyes too. I like taking a damp face cloth and wiping off the oil that way but you can wash it off too. There's no sticky residue, just clean makeup-free skin, and the best thing about it is that the whole process takes only about 2 minutes, even with a face full of makeup. I've got into double cleansing lately so I follow up with my regular cleanser to get extra clean.

I totally recommend this if you're on the hunt for a fairly affordable cleansing balm - especially if you have dry skin. It costs £22 for 125ml and it's available online at Boots, Feel Unique and on the Clinique website (plus any department store that has a Clinique counter).

Clean Eating Alice: The Body Bible

One of my October Goals last month was to get more creative in the kitchen and prepare some more food related posts to go up on my blog - and I've definitely been trying, I have lots of different ideas written down. One of the ways I like to find inspiration is through cookery books, and especially clean eating, healthy living cookery books that inspire a happy, healthy way of life without compromising the delicious part! Clean Eating Alice is just that - Alice is an incredibly inspiring person, and her book conveys this beautifully. I've been following her Instagram account for a while, and all of her posts make me want to live healthier and make more wholesome life choices when it comes to my diet and fitness. The fact that she's focused on fitness rather than weight-loss is also incredibly inspiring.

Her book was released late last year and it's been on my wishlist for a while. I finally bought it earlier this month and I'm so glad I did. It's got everything you need to kickstart a healthier way of living, from exercise routines, to inspirational pep talks and a wealth of knowledge on clean eating. The recipes are versatile and there's a bit of everything... I literally cannot fault it. The one thing I wish this book had was more recipes, but I know that Alice is releasing a whole new book in December so that will be on my wishlist as soon as it comes out!

The book is really focused on the hard work behind improving your lifestyle. It emphasizes the importance on consistency and that healthy living is not a one day, one week or even one year thing. It requires upkeep and a change of mindset, and the book acts as a guide in order to help you achieve this. Saying that, it's bursting with positivity, motivation and beautiful photographs to keep you inspired whenever you open the book.

I really recommend getting your hands on it if you're after something that will push you towards making healthier choices for a happier you.

I've only been in the blogging community for a year and I'm already experiencing how lovely it is, and how lucky I am to be a part of it! To celebrate my blogging birthday and reaching 500 followers on my blog, I thought I'd host a little giveaway as a thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my posts, comment on them and follow.

Six Simple Ways To Improve Your Morning

Even though I've just got back from my trip and I'm feeling optimistic in getting stuck back into work, there are always little things that can be done to improve how each day goes. Today's blog post is a little list of the things I like to do to keep my day strong and my productivity its best - I hope you find it useful if you're looking for ways to make your mornings that little bit better!

Start the night before.
If you prepare the night before, you'll improve your productivity of the next day so much more! I wrote a post on boosting your productivity where I talk about the importance of organising your day - and there's no better time to do it than the night before. Writing a list, laying out your outfit...all of these can be done beforehand and they'll make your morning as stress-free as possible.

Make your bed.
This is one of those instantly feel better chores. Making my bed is something I do without fail every morning, almost as a symbolic act of starting my day. Plus, when it's made, I'm less likely to crawl back into the sheets!

Listen to something.
Whilst I get ready in the morning, I love to have a listen to something - whether it be music, the radio, an episode of Friends in the background or a podcast... there are so many things to have on which help start your day with some positivity. For instance, if I play an episode of Friends, more often than not I will end up starting my day with laughter - and that's always a good thing right?

Get some exercise.
You've probably heard this one a lot but I don't just mean exercising as a physical task. Mental stimulation is also really important and when your stuck doing the same thing day in, day out it can be hard to come by. Of course, going for a run is always a great way to boost your mood too - it might be hard whilst you're doing it but the feeling afterwards is incredible.

Enjoy your breakfast.
You all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and hopefully you eat it - but making the time to enjoy it and savour it is probably something only a handful of us do! Getting up that little bit earlier to make and enjoy a meal that you really like will definitely help set the day off on the right note - and breakfast will become a part of the day that you can look forward to before you start your day.

Get enough sleep.
This one is really important as how much rest you've had really does shape your day. They recommend 7-8 hours of sleep and a routine, and I totally agree. I feel much more productive when I've had my full sleep rather than when I've only had broken bitty sleep throughout the early hours of the morning!

What are your favourite tips to improve your day?
