Makeup Musings #5

Seeing as I’ve been trying quite a few new beauty bits lately, I thought it was time to gather them all into another Makeup Musings style post, so that I could share them all at once. Most of them are drugstore, a couple more luxury purchases, but all of them are new additions to my ever expanding makeup collection.

First up is the Makeup Revolution Awesome Metals in Rose GoldI saw this in Gemma’s Warm Summer Eye Makeup post a month ago and I immediately asked Superdrug to email me as soon as it was back in stock. It’s the strangest texture, and so sparkly, I absolutely love the swatch! There’s a silver shade too which I now have my eye on (pun not intended). They actually look really similar to the Stila Magnificent Metals shadows, except these ones are a tenth of the price. I still need to try this on my eyes though so I will have to keep you posted on how I find it.

You might remember me mentioning that I’m only just getting into using lipliners, and so far I’m loving it! Of course I had to try out the Rimmel ones so I picked up two whilst Superdrug still had their buy-one-get-one-half-price offer on. I chose the shades 063 East End Snob and 018 Addiction. Both are gorgeous neutral nude shades, with one being slightly pinkier and the other more brown toned. I’m super excited to try these over the next little while too.

The next two purchases are probably my favourite from the bunch – I picked up two of the new Kate for Rimmel 15 Year Anniversary Lipsticks. The two shades I chose were Boho Nude and Retro Red. I’m not going to say much about them now, but expect a full review with swatches one these two beauties early next week!

I’m having a bit of a moment with new blushes lately and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect everyday pink. I’ve heard so much about how good the Hourglass blushes are – the two that are in my Hourglass Lighting Edit Palette are really lovely. So I had a little look at the other shades and chose the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat – it looks like the prettiest warm pink marbled with cream, so you can choose the intensity you prefer. I’ll definitely keep you updated on how it works out for me but on first impression, it looks like a shade that would suit so many different skin tones.

Last up is another eyeshadow, but this one is from one of my all time favourite makeup brands – none other than Charlotte Tilbury. I’ve obsessed over her Eyes to Mesmerise in Bette all summer long, so last week, I picked up the shade Jean. It’s such a beautiful pink gold, it wears beautifully throughout the day and it’s incredibly creamy. Totally gorgeous.

What new makeup bits have you been trying recently?
