First off, I really hope you all had a lovely festive weekend! It’s been a really long time since I sat down and wrote a post on something completely unrelated to beauty and lifestyle, and if I’m honest, I wasn’t sure if that was something that you all would want to read. Saying that, I know that I often enjoy reading life update type posts, so I thought it would be nice to round the year off with a chat.
You might remember I wrote a post back in July called Feeling the Pressure, and it explained how I had gone through a phase of blogger’s block half way through the year where I was lacking inspiration, and I felt my content just wasn’t any good. After just over a year of blogging, I know I have come a really long way from where I started, and it makes me really proud to see my progress – whether it be through photography, reader engagement or even just the way I write. My blog has definitely become a space where I can express and share everything I’m passionate about, and I am so glad that I started this journey.
Interacting with other bloggers is also another part of this hobby that I find incredibly rewarding – it’s always so nice to read comments and engage with what everyone has to say. I really hope that 2017 brings more of that, and I know that I am on the hunt to find lots of new blogger friends to chat with, to follow and to be inspired by. Of course, social media is something that also plays a massive part in the blogging world and it’s something that I am going to try and use more actively next year (I had no idea how to even use Twitter a few months ago but I’m trying to learn!). Even though numbers isn’t what blogging is all about, it’s always so lovely to see when someone new decides to follow, and join in with the conversation in the comments.
If I look back through this past year, photography is something that is constantly evolving and I still haven’t found a style that I’m happy with. This is something that I also want to establish in the new year, and find a style that I love and can stay consistent with. I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with some really lovely brands, and never in a million years did I think that would happen to me (especially not so soon into blogging). But it did, and I’m incredibly grateful. I really hope that many more opportunities arise in the future because it’s always such fun to be able to share and promote products that I love to use and enjoy.
I’m now very much focused on the next step. I want to start switching things up for 2017 and experiment with new content and blogging styles. Firstly, I was thinking about changing my blogging schedule – this year I’ve posted three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but I’m thinking of tweaking this a little so a post goes up on the weekend as well. I want to do at least one month where I blog every single day – I think that’s a challenge that I’d really enjoy and it would definitely encourage me to branch out and find new things to write about and share.
I don’t want this post to be too rambly (it already seems to look like it is!), but I really wanted to spend a little time to thank all of you that read my posts and tell me what you think. I really hope that you all had a lovely Christmas, and that the new year brings even more happiness and success for all of us.
Here’s to looking onward and upwards!
