My Festive Beauty Roundup.

My Festive Beauty Roundup.

With all the commitments of December, I’ve been branching out a little when it comes to my makeup and playing around with new shades and colour combinations because this time of year is definitely the time you can get away with it! I’ve got quite a few newer additions in this blog post which I’ve narrowed down as my basic December makeup bag – and here they are:

I’ve found that I often prefer fuller coverage this season, and so I’ve tried and tested quite a few different base combinations before I found the one that gave me the most flawless base possible without weighing my face down. I’ve been using my Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Primer* for a good glow and to give my foundation something to adhere to. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll already know how much I love the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, and this is another repurchase (it might be my fifth bottle by now) – the formula gives amazing coverage but it’s quite liquid-y so it doesn’t feel like a lot on your skin.

For pesky blemishes and my under-eye area, the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer* does the trick for me! I’ve always raved about the NARS creamy concealer but this one comes very close and it feels even more lightweight because of the sponge tip applicator. To powder, I’ve been using the Charlotte Tilbury Complexion Genius Powder* which still gives a satin luminescence to the skin while also blotting out any disco-ball shine. I only use the tiniest amount of this one though because I like to keep things glowy and the other three products are all formulated to create the effect of a natural glow.

I’ve really dialled back on the eyeshadow this year because I’m all about bold lips (more on that a little later), but the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Eyeshadow Quad* is my go-to for the perfect neutral rose-toned eye look. Although the shades are incredibly unique, the colours somehow work with all eye colours and skin tones – and I honestly think it has quickly become my favourite eyeshadow palette that I own. If you’ve used any of the CT quads in the past, you’ll know that the formula is amazing – and if you’ve tried the Pillow Talk lipstick, you’ll know it’s the perfect shade of ‘suits-all’ nude. This palette is their perfect child – and I’d recommend it to everyone!

Sephora had a VIB sale recently so I took advantage of the twenty percent off and treated myself to the NARS Climax Mascara. I’m not going to lie, it was the packaging that drew me in in all it’s festive red glory. It is a great mascara for volume but I haven’t really seen much in terms of length just yet – then again, I’m blessed with naturally long lashes so it somehow works for me but I don’t know how it would look on those of us who are looking for a little extra length. It is great for a really amped up up party lash, but I’ve also found that it crumbles and after a few hours there’s little black flakes underneath my eyes… so I wouldn’t reach for this for an all-day event.

The Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette is still my favourite for a super easy-yet-glowy cheek solution. Everything is there, all in one place and the formula of each pan is super buildable so you can work up the the intensity of colour that compliments your makeup look. This would make such a lovely Christmas present for a beauty lover too because it’s such a versatile palette that would work for literally everyone – and who wouldn’t love to receive some Dior as a gift?!

Finally – lipstick. A good Christmas red, and it’s the same one every year – I love the Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Pirate for the most classic scarlet that doesn’t dry my lips or transfer all over my teeth. It’s a blue-toned red so it makes my teeth look brighter and whiter, and it’s such a lovely one to carry round in a party clutch!

What are your party makeup favourites?
