It’s been a hot minute since I last posted anything up on my blog, and honestly, with the kind of year it’s been, I almost thought that I had lost inspiration altogether. But with all things creative, I’ve been finding my groove again and looking for new sources of inspiration to reignite my love for blogging. To restart the wheel, I thought I would share a few skincare luxuries that have made my evening routine a little more comforting over the course of the last few months. There’s some long term favourites in the mix, but also a couple of new discoveries that have really helped me feel uplifted and relaxed.
Let’s talk face…
An old time favourite. I used to use this face mask so much throughout university during the time that my acne was at its worst. Since then, it’s (thankfully) calmed down but the recent flareups of ‘maskne’ have me rediscovering all my heroes for treating acne. I’ve been slathering this over the affected areas about twice a week and I find it’s instantly soothing and reduces the redness and inflammation. The formula itself smells divine, applies thick and feels rich on the skin. There is no residue once you wash it off but any blemishes appear drastically calmer, so a definite must have for anyone else experiencing skin trouble due to wearing a mask these days.
The name says it all. It’s a wonderfully unique product, with a soft lavender scent. It has the texture of milk, and application is with a pipette dropper. The formula consists of emulsified oils, so you have to massage it quickly into the skin but it feels rich yet lightweight, so it provides deep nourishment without feeling heavy at all. I find that it’s the perfect product to combine with serums as part of my evening routine, but it’s definitely more of a luxurious step that I make sure I include this time of year.
Another one that I’ve mentioned time and time again, but I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it, especially during the seasonal changes. It’s the richest, most thirst-quenching cream I have ever tried. My skin drinks it up immediately in the autumn/winter season. I find that there’s an extra bounce to my complexion when I wake up (which is very much welcomed when you have dry skin), and my makeup routine the next morning feels so much easier. It’s like it creates the perfect canvas overnight, so when you wash and prep your face in the morning, everything applies that much better.
I’ve just started my second tub of this dreamy lip balm. I only ever use it at night because I find it’s more of a lip mask than a balm. It’s incredibly thick and you can definingly feel the weight of it on your lips, but if you can tolerate that feeling overnight, you wake up with the softest and smoothest pout in the morning! I don’t really need to use it in the summer, but when October rolls around I’m using it every night. It sits on my nightstand next to my hand cream, ready for application immediately before bed.
And for the body…
Definitely more of a luxe purchase, but one that I’ve been reaching for a lot. It’s rich and hydrating but I have lots of other hand creams that offer the same nourishment for dry hands. What draws me to this particular hand cream is the beautifully unique scent. It has top notes of lingonberry and Sicilian lemon, heart notes of jasmine and tuberose and base notes of amber. It’s rich and floral, and I find it incredibly uplifting in the evenings!
A noteworthy mention…
I’ve been through so many bottles of this fragrance, but it’s a true favourite. I have a wide array of JM fragrances, and I absolutely love them. They’re luxurious, have a beautiful variety of notes and I find them to be incredibly longwearing. I always spritz a little fragrance on before bed, and this has been my fragrance of choice lately. I even have the candle version on my nightstand which has an incredible throw across the bedroom as well. The top notes are mimosa with middle notes of crushed cardamom. The base notes are tonka with sandalwood which add a real creaminess and smoothness to the scent. It’s a very warm fragrance and I love that for this time of year… it makes the whole process of sleeping and waking up feel luxe and calming.
