Face oils are something I always come back to this time of year, when the air gets drier and my skin needs a more long lasting boost of hydration and glow. I used to always be afraid of using oils, for fear of clogging up my pores and triggering even more acne to flare up… but over the past few years, I’ve seen the benefits of using light oil-based formulas to soothe the skin and repair it when it needs some desperate TLC. Here is a small roundup of my favourites, that I’ve either already started using, or that I’m planning to use for the upcoming winter season!
Caudalie Premier Cru Divine Oil*
Talk about luxe! The packaging for this alone had me sucked in. This product is newer in my routine but I was glad to get my hands on it before the colder months. I’ve used it several times now, and it works beautifully with the other products from the same range. As with all Caudalie products, it melts into the skin and really works on boosting skin brightness and overall radiance. I love pairing this with the Brightening Serum in order to maximize my glow in the morning!
Herbivore Orchid Face Oil
This is one that I’ve sworn by for years. You need the tiniest amount and boy, it delivers! The formula is designed to fight against free radicals, while supporting skin elasticity with vitamins and fatty acids. It feels light and nourishing, but what I love the most about it is how quickly it’s absorbed by the skin. This means there’s no greasy residue or heavy feeling to follow, and I can apply and go straight to bed without having to wait a while before resting my face on my pillow.
Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil*
Another one for those that love a super lightweight oil. I’ve been using this one in the mornings underneath makeup, and it provides a beautifully smooth, but slip-free base for my foundation. I have even mixed this one in with my makeup in the past to prevent dryness throughout the day, and it really works! There’s an almost velvet-like texture to it, and it smells divine… the formula is enriched with superberry extracts to help boost your natural glow and prevent dullness.
Oskia Restoration Face Oil
Oskia is a brand that is well known to be incredible and packed with powerful ingredients to keep skin looking youthful and fresh. They offer several oils, but the one that stood out to me the most was the Restoration Oil. It’s blended with firming African Acmella for skin suppleness, as well as sea fennel to encourage collagen production which helps plump out the skin. The formula also contains turmeric, which is well known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties. The oil itself is heavier than the others I have mentioned, but it feels luxurious and beautiful to apply.
These four are the ones I have been or will be reaching for over the next few months to see me through the harsh Canadian winter. I’d love to know of any of your facial or body oil recommendations too!
