Throughout the summer months, I fell in love with effortlessly sun-kissed, glowy skin and – even though there’s now five inches of snow outside – I’m never quite ready to let that go when winter rolls around. However, not all of the dewy liquid highlighters that I reach for throughout the summer work with the heavier foundations I tend to use in the colder season. For that reason, I tend to switch up my highlighters too, and I thought I’d share three of my go-to products that have been working a real treat.
Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter
I’ve been using a tapered highlighting brush to apply this across my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my cupids bow and it gives the dreamiest, molten champagne shimmer to the skin. My favourite shades are Lightening Dust and Fire Crystal, and a blend of both is absolutely stunning. It’s soft enough that it’s not too much, but the formula is buildable so you can work up to a more intense party-time pop.
The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer
Am I the only one who never grew out of my love for this product? It was one of the first on the scene when the highlighter beauty obsession came around, and I still think it’s one of the best, more affordable ones out there. The colour is not too warm, and not too cool so I’ve found it works with most skin tones. The pigment is intense, so it shows up well on deeper skin tones too. I’ve even tried using this as an eyeshadow and it blends up a dream on the lids!

Lilah B Glisten & Glow Skin Illuminator
If I’m opting for more of a no-makeup makeup look, this is my favourite creamy highlighter to use. It has a balm like texture, so I tend not to wear it with heavy coverage foundations, but more with tinted moisturiser and a heavier concealer. As the name suggests, the formula gives a very subtle, delicate ‘glistening’ finish, which I find absolutely beautiful throughout the winter months when skin can tend to look tired and dull. It’s on the pricier side, but a little goes a long long way with this one, so it will last a while.
